Flush-mount rod holder
Gunwale and deck rod holders, 30° and 15° rake, on small boats and kayaks.
What goes wrong with the original.
The flange cracks where it is screwed down, or the tube splits at the cross-pin. Sun does most of the damage; the rest is being stood on.
ASA
Above deck in salt and sun. ASA is hydrophobic and UV-stable — the two things a deck fitting is attacked by.
Orientation, infill and fixings
Thick-walled tube, solid flange, stainless cross-pin. Drain hole at the base so it does not hold water.
Stated plainly
For light and medium rods. Not for trolling heavy gear or anything a strong fish could load the gunwale through.
