1Why it fails

What goes wrong with the original.

The handle body goes chalky and brittle after two or three summers, then the spring anchor snaps out of it under tension. The spring and hook are usually fine; it is the plastic that gives up.

ASA

Full-sun exposure all year. ASA holds its impact strength under UV where the original polypropylene does not, and it is non-conductive at fence voltages.

3 · How it is printed

Orientation, infill and fixings

Solid infill around the spring anchor and hook seat, 40% elsewhere. Printed with the grip axis vertical so the layers run along the load. We reuse your existing spring and hook, or supply stainless ones.
