Consultancy · Devon & Cornwall
We will tell you when the answer is no.
Most businesses on this peninsula do not need an AI strategy. Some need one specific thing automated, several need nothing at all, and a few are sitting on something genuinely valuable and cannot see it. We come and look, and we say which.
Someone who will actually come and stand in the building.
Most AI consultancy sold into the South West is delivered from Bristol or London by people who have never seen the site. That is fine for a slide deck and useless for a plant room with no signal.
We are based on the Atlantic Highway at Bude, three miles from the Devon border. We can be at a farm outside Holsworthy, a garage in Barnstaple, a hotel in Falmouth or a yard in Appledore inside a morning — and the constraints that shape our software are the ones you already live with. Poor connectivity. Hard weather. Statutory record-keeping. Staff who will not read a manual and cannot afford a day of downtime.
That is not a regional loyalty argument. It is that software built at a distance from those conditions tends to assume they do not exist.
Five stages, and you can stop after any of them.
No retainer, no minimum term, and nothing that only makes sense if you buy the next thing.
A conversation, at no charge
An hour, on your site or on a call. You describe the problem as you see it; we tell you honestly whether we think AI, robotics or automation has anything useful to offer it. A meaningful share of these end with us saying no.
Assessment — two to six weeks
What is technically buildable, what is lawful in your sector, what it would cost, and what we would recommend you do not build. Delivered as a written document you own and can take to anyone. It is the single most valuable thing we sell.
Proof, on your data
Not a demonstration on someone else's numbers. We take a narrow slice of the real problem and build it end to end, so you find out whether it works before committing a budget to it.
Build, or hand over
We deliver it to production with evaluation harnesses, audit trails and documentation — or we write the specification and your own team builds it. Both are legitimate outcomes and we are not precious about which.
Keep it running
Models drift, regulations move, suppliers change their terms. Systems that nobody owns quietly stop being true. We can hold that, or train someone of yours to.
Six shapes of problem.
If yours is not on this list, it is still worth an hour of conversation — but this is where we are genuinely useful.
Detail A
Where the paperwork is the bottleneck
Statutory record-keeping, compliance evidence, quoting, invoicing, scheduling. Unglamorous, and usually where the hours actually go. We have built this for farms, trades and hospitality.
Detail B
Where the phone goes unanswered
Real-time voice handling for garages, trades and service businesses — booking into the systems you already run, grounded in your own data so it cannot invent a price.
Detail C
Where something needs to move
Aerial survey, uncrewed vessels, industrial control and fieldbus. Including the regulatory analysis that determines what may lawfully be flown or floated, and by whom.
Detail D
Where the answer is in the images
Condition assessment, counting, defect and anomaly detection — delivered with the evaluation apparatus that says how well it performs, and on what.
Detail E
Where the data exists but nobody can use it
Integration into the systems of record you already have, so information stops living in three spreadsheets and a WhatsApp group.
Detail F
Where you have been sold something that does not work
A second opinion on an existing supplier, product or contract. We are happy to be the people who read it properly.
Things you probably want to ask.
Are you going to tell me I need AI?
Probably not. A lot of what gets sold as AI is a spreadsheet that someone should have fixed, or a process that should have been removed rather than automated. We would rather say that in week one than take a year of your money to arrive at it.
We are small. Are we too small?
No. Some of the most useful work we do is a single automated task for a business of three people. If it is genuinely too small to be worth our fee, we will say so and point you at what to buy off the shelf.
Will this need us to replace our systems?
Almost never, and we would treat that as a warning sign. The work is usually integration into what you already run — the job-management platform, the accounts package, the registry you already file to.
What about our data?
It stays in a jurisdiction you agree, it is never used to train anyone's model, and you can export all of it at any time. We will not build you something you cannot leave.
Do you work with grant funding?
Yes. We are comfortable with staged gateways, defined acceptance criteria and open-book reporting against milestones, and we have prepared documentation for institutional review.
What does it cost?
The first conversation is free. Assessments are fixed-price against a defined scope, so you know the number before you commit. Build work is quoted per engagement — no day rates running indefinitely.
Next step
Tell us what you are trying to do. If we think it is worth doing, we will say how. If we think it is not, we will say that instead — and you will have lost an hour rather than a budget.
